Supervisor Vince Barry opening with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Clerk, Kathie Hart, Treasurer, Jim Cooper and Trustees Elaine St. Louis and Colin Combs were present.

Public comments included P. Dean advising that a letter had been received from the Corp of Engineers regarding weeds in Secord Lake and he requested permission to pursue communication with them on behalf of the Township, A. Sabourin announced his candidacy for Secord Township Trustee, A. Manning advised that she was running for Register of Deeds, D. Curtis addressed his concerns regarding barking dogs, F. Delecki expressed his concerns regarding weeds and B. Mitchell discussed the chemicals used for weed control.

Motion by Combs and Cooper to approve the minutes of the April 21, 2010 monthly Township meeting. All Ayes.

County Commissioner, Josh Reid, provided an update on County business including the equalization contract,
upcoming budget, ORV issues, energy grant and the Commissioners meeting.

R&R Assessing advised that she had received all township records and citizens with questions/concerns can call Kelly at 989-879-1222.

Fire Board Chair, R. Norton, reported on monthly runs; provided a return to work clearance for H. Marr and a request for temporary leave from R. Marr due to injury in car accident and advised that October was his last meeting as Chair for the Fireboard.

Planning Commission Chair, T. Mitchell, provided a recap of the May meeting advising that a special use permit had been issued for a citizen to rebuild cars; the commission was having a special meeting on June 16th at 1PM to discuss fence ordinance and floating dock issues.

Road Chair, G. VanWambeke provided an update on road construction and maintenance for Lundy, Wirtz and Lakeshore Drive.

Motion by Combs and St. Louis to amend the Blighted Structure Ordinance to make violation a civil infraction. All Ayes. MC

Motion by Hart and Cooper to amend the Inoperable Vehicle Ordinance to make violation a civil infraction. All Ayes. MC

Barry advised that the Board had met and proposed changes to the Noise and Public Nuisance Ordinance and that those changes would be forwarded to the attorney for review.

M. Chamberlain provided an update on F.O.R.G.E.

Barry advised that Aquatic Nuisance had reviewed the weed situation and would be starting weed control procedures when the weather permits.

Barry advised that the 2010 – 2011 Budget Adoption Hearing would be held on Wednesday, June 16th at 9:30 A.M. prior to the regular monthly Township Board Meeting.

Motion by Hart and St. Louis to appoint P. Dean coordinator of the Corp of Engineers grant for the weed study for Secord Township. MC

St. Louis questioned the costs of the May school election. Hart advised that approximate costs were $488. St. Louis commended the person who had written the grant request for the Fire Department.
