Gladwin County ORV (Over Road Vehicle) Ordinance Proposal

The Secord Township Board is requesting input from residents regarding the current Gladwin County ORV Ordinance proposal. Specific concerns are that the current County proposal eliminates any ORV’s on Three Rivers Road or on Secord Dam Road from Lakeshore Drive to M-30.

As a matter of information, this proposal is intended to increase economic income for Gladwin County and the County has asked for County resident input prior to implementing this ordinance.

Please contact Secord Township Supervisor, Vince Barry, at 989-246-0027 or plynn@ejourney.com with your opinions, concerns or questions.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Residents of Secord Township

All parcel owners of Secord Township were advised via mail April 29, 2009, that a Public Hearing on May 2, 2009, would be held regarding a proposed mosquito control program for Secord Township. The Secord Township Board, after a presentation by Advanced Pest Management, and solicited questions/concerns to APM and the Board regarding the mosquito treatment program, voted to enter into a contract with Advanced Pest Management (APM) for spring and summer treatments 2009.

The objectives of the program are to reduce nuisance mosquito populations to an acceptable level, which includes treatments for larvae and adult species in the spring and summer, thereby improving the comfort and overall quality of life for the residents of Secord Township.

Treatment and analysis of needed areas with standing water will be started within the next week, but no later than May 15, 2009. Residents who do not wish their properties to be included in the treatment or who have concerns regarding standing stagnant water on their parcels, which invite mosquito breeding grounds, should call APM as soon as possible at 1-877-276-4714. Notification to APM is very important in order for them to mark your parcel as not to be sprayed, and APM needs permission from you, the owner, to analyze your property regarding standing stagnant water prior to treatment. Owners need to include their name, address of current residence, contact phone number, including area code, and all owned properties, with addresses, in order to accomplish elimination of treatment for their parcels or allow access to their property for standing water analysis.

Residents concerned about adjoining property that is uninhabited (that being vacant land) that is known to be owned by an Secord Township individual should call Pat Dean at 989-426-7607 with their concerns.

Visit the Secord Township website at www.secordtownship.org for updates throughout the summer regarding mosquito treatments, meeting minutes from the Board, Planning Commission and Fire Board meetings, as well as other pertinent information.
